Everything you need to know before your picnic

Though our picnics are as simple as book, select your menu options, arrive, and enjoy, we know that you may still have a few question. Let us help you below. 

HOW DO I BOOK A PICNIC?

Booking your picnic is as simple as a few clicks. Just visit our booking site, select the picnic of your choice (luxury, brunch, classic) select your menu choice (regular, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.), choose any add-ons (dessert, more time, extra picnicker, etc). When you're ready to checkout fill out your information and include a note in the comment field stating what type of location you'd like (accessible, seaside, park, or home address if within 15 km of St. John's). In this comment box you can also let us know of any additional concerns or preferences and we'll be sure to take them into account when booking your picnic. Once you checkout you'll get a confirmation email and within a week of your picnic we'll send you a text confirming your location. Wanting to book a custom picnic? Just fill out our online form

CAN I GIFT A PICNIC?

We may be biased but we like to think a Newfound Picnic makes the perfect surprise! Wedding presents, birthdays, an anniversary, a new home, or a new addition to the family, you can easily  purchase an e-gift card on our online shop and have it emailed directly to the person your gifting to. 

CAN WE BRING OUR OWN FOOD?

Our hope is that our picnics are relaxing as possible, that's why each picnic includes an accompanying food offering. At Newfound Picnics we try to cater to as many dietary restrictions as possible including, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, so we generally discourage bringing your own food unless requested ahead of time for special reasons (nut allergy, etc.) We also provide take away containers if you have leftovers that you'd like to enjoy later. 

DO I NEED TO CLEAN UP AFTER THE PICNIC?

No, please leave the clean up to us once your picnic has ended. The goal with our pop-up picnics is to leave no trace behind. That's why we use as little one-use materials as possible and also provide a waste collection bag should you need to use it during your picnic.  Once your picnic time has elapsed, we'll come back, clean up and no one would have known that there was a picnic just a few moments ago. 

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY LUXURY PICNIC?

Since this is a luxury picnic service we truly take care of every detail including the food. With every Luxury Picnic you will enjoy both the beautiful scenery and delicious food. Out team sets up the ultimate picnic experience in a green space or seaside spot that includes: a low handmade table (coffee table height), floor cushions to sit on, linens for the table, fresh florals, candle holders with electric candles, non-alcoholic beverages, and dinner and serving ware to enjoy the charcuterie spread before you.

CAN I BRING ALCOHOL TO MY PICNIC?

No, but we do provide non-alcoholic beverage for every picnic that you can happily enjoy instead. We do not have licensing for consumption of alcohol in public spaces and cannot condone drinking or provide alcohol to you. We kindly ask that you to respect the Liquor Control Act for Newfoundland and Labrador and our business practices and refrain from bringing alcoholic beverages to your picnic if it is hosted in a public space, as we cannot be held liable for any illegal activities. If you would like to enjoy your picnic in a private space, like your backyard, you are welcome to BYOB and drink responsibly. 

HOW LONG IS MY PICNIC?

Our picnics come with a standard of 1 hour bookings, that said you can add an extra half hour or two to your picnic when you are going through the simple booking steps. If you wish to leave early from your selected time we do ask that you send us a text, provided in your booking email, letting us know when you'd like to leave. We do ask that you stay with your picnic setup until we arrive to clean up. 

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

 

Though we can offer indoor picnics in your private space, most of our picnics will be hosted outdoors. We understand Newfoundland's weather can be unpredictable so we are happy to reschedule your picnic within the next 45 days if the weather is not cooperating on your original picnic date. If there is a chance of light showers in the forecast we are happy to find an alternate location that offers shelter so you can still enjoy your picnic outside. Either way, we'll connect with you the week of to confirm location, timing and any other questions you may have. 

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?

We understand that life happens! Notify us 72 hours in advance for a partial refund of 80% of the full amount. A 20% non-refundable service fee will incur if you do cancel for any reason. Newfound Picnics is not responsible for refunding the full amount.

 

We also do offer rescheduling up to 45 days of your original picnic date. If you choose to reschedule, please let us know 72 hours in advance. Otherwise, we might not be able to accommodate.

 If you need to reduce the party size of your picnic you must provide 72 hours notice so we are able to coordinate with our food providers to adjust your order and provide a refund of the difference. 

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY PICNIC?

As far in advance as you can! The earlier you book your picnic the more of a possibility we can plan your picnic for you. If you are looking for a specific date and do not see it available in the calendar, feel free to reach out to us and we'll always try to accommodate you. We'll confirm the week of with your location details and answer any other questions you may have.  

ARE YOUR PICNICS ACCESSIBLE?

 

We like to say that our picnics are for everyone, and that includes disabled people. We are happy to bring the picnic to you if you would feel more comfortable in your own home. We also have locations that offer accessible picnic tables if you use a mobility device. In local parks, there may be some gravel pathways that we understand are not easy for everyone to navigate on, if this is a concern for you please let us know when you are booking your picnic and we will work to find a location that suits your mobility needs. If you have dietary concerns or require anything specific to make your picnic more enjoyable, just let us know. We're here to make your picnic as special as possible. 

I HAVE A SPECIFIC LOCATION IN MIND, HOW DO I BOOK IT?

We do have some limitations for where we are able to setup your picnic if it's in a public space, that said we'll always try to accommodate your dream picnic. For a specific location we do ask that you contact us for a custom picnic. 

CAN I DECORATE MY OWN PICNIC?

If you have a specific vision for your picnic we'd love to collaborate with you on custom décor. We are happy to partner with a local florist studio and a balloon company to help your picnic dreams come true with one of our custom picnics. We can also provide services for personalized gifts, treats and more.

BUT WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?!

We know that you'll fabulous in anything you wear, but as we said above, Newfoundland weather can be unpredictable. We suggest bringing a layer, or two, just in case a cool North Atlantic breeze decides to blow your way.
